Liquid Gold

I originally purchased this product to see what all the hype was about with a)  Alpha-H products and b) glycolic acid. This has a huge beauty cult following and is Alpha-H’s best seller. I ended up purchasing this one along with the intense overnight treatment (which I’ll post about shortly). You can alternate between the two products every night. If you only purchase one then just use that one every other day.

The first time I used it, I thought ‘meh’, I don’t see what all the fuss was about. After further use, oh buddy was I singing a different tune. I noticed a big difference in my skin.

Note, I did use both the Alpha H Liquid Gold and the intense overnight treatment. I didn’t feel a stinging/tingling like sensation that can happen when using glycolic acid products, but of course everyone’s skin reacts differently.

The ingredients list is pretty lengthy and may contain stuff that isn’t good for everyone, for one reason or another.

I wanted to try this out to see if it could help my scars. I’ve tried so many different products, some DIY stuff, organic, natural, laser treatments, different kinds of facials and the list goes on. So I decided to try some hard hitting stuff to help me. I thought I’d give this a go and see, what do I have to lose other than my $50-ish. This now is my soul mate skin care list for sure!

Due to the AHA in this pot of gold you have to make sure, without a shadow of a doubt to wear SPF. I’m sure you hear this a lot on how important it is and it’s something to be taken seriously. If you already do wear SPF then you are a lot smarter than me!

I have a confession, I never really bothered with it before, unless I was going to be in the sun for a long period of time. I used to drive from my garage to an undercover car park and take the lift up to work. Then the same thing on the way back home.

I barely had any sun exposure, “why bother putting any SPF” said the rebel part of me. Point one for me – take that sun! With this product you can not under any circumstances skip the SPF part. “But I’m wearing it at night, why would I need SPF during the night”, believe me I tried that loophole! If you do stop using this product, continue wearing SPF for at least 2 weeks after….errr I mean forever and ever. Be sun-smart!

The packaging has a classic look to it. When I apply, I just put a little bit of the liquid in the palm of my hand and pat it in my face. At first I would put the product on a cotton pad and swipe it on my face, but I felt like the cotton pad soaked up more of the product was actually going on my skin. So I stopped doing that. If you go down that route though make sure you wash your hands REALLY well. I didn’t do it properly this one time and it accidentally got in my eye while applying eye cream, now I triple wash!

Also the label states for a more intense treatment don’t put moisturiser after. I tried that method a few times and didn’t really notice anything earth shattering vs when I put moisturiser on. So now I put overnight moisturiser on after this dries, so 10/15 minutes later.

Final Thoughts

I LOVE this product and due to only using it alternating nights it’s lasted me quite awhile. I still have a long way to go with my skin but I feel like this is helping me tons. My T-zone, which is pretty much the main places I don’t have lots of scaring, well at least not the ice pick types.

Also, I have a PMD (review pending) so the day before, the day of and the day after my PMD day I don’t use any of my Alpha-H products.

There is a Laser line Alpha-H has that I’ve been dying to try, so I’ll have to add that next time to my list when I place an order.

This is an Australian brand (yay us!), I’m always happy to see a local brand take over the world. The only downside, this is where I get crossed, is that it’s more expensive to buy here from a local beauty retailer than from overseas (with free shipping may I add). I’m not talking about $5, I’m taking a lot more than that. One of the Laser products is about $30 less from an overseas retailer. I’m all for supporting Australian brands and stores but $30 could buy me a 12 pack of sheet masks (my newest addiction)!

If you do decide to purchase look out for different websites as a lot of them have buy one get one free and there is a limited time edition of the 200ml bottle at some online stores.

P.S. Alpha-H does not test on animals, which is again another thing I like.
