Cosrx Rice Overnight Spa Mask Review
COSRX is a K-Beauty favourite brand. It’s a great introduction brand into the Korean skincare scene. Cosrx is a very affordable brand and carries a number of products that suit different skin types.
When I first started learning about Korean skincare I heard lots of great things about this brand but struggled to find vendors that shipped to Australia, so I put it on the back burner. Fast forward a year and I am so happy to find it’s so easily available to purchase in Australia. There are now a number of different vendors who sell this brand, some places carry products other do not but none the less there is a great variety.
The name COSRX comes from a mesh of Cosmetics meets RX (pharmacy/prescription).
Contains 68% Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract: nourishment and moisturisation
Contains 2% Niacinamide: usually found in skincare products targeted to anti-aging, acne and dry skin
HOW I USE
There are 3 different ways you can use this mask according to the Cosrx website:
1. As an overnight mask: Use as the last step of your pm skincare routine.
2. As a wash off mask: Apply a generous amount leave on for 15 minutes and then wash off.
3. As a morning cream: Use as the last step of your am skincare routine and proceed with your normal makeup routine.
I used this as an overnight mask after I applied my moisturiser in my pm skincare routine. Personally, I wouldn’t want to use it as a morning skincare routine, I’d prefer to use a SPF moisturiser.
When I do my pm routine, the last few steps consist of applying my Polatam Oak Tree Sap moist cream, my pm night moisturiser and then the sleeping mask. It sounds like a lot of moisturisers but it’s worked wonders for my skin doing this routine.
Cosrx Rice Sleeping Mask brought my interest back to sleeping masks. A majority of the sleeping masks I’ve tried in the past have left me completely underwhelmed and not reaching for them on a regular basis. I couldn’t understand everyone’s raving about sleeping masks.
Using this sleeping mask I wake up noticing a natural healthy glow to my skin that I never seen before with the regular use of a sleeping mask.
Recently, in the last couple of months, I have started to notice that my skin requires lots of moisturisation even though I have crazy oily skin. That only works with the right combination of moisturisers and this is one of them. It may be a winter thing that my skin needs this extra step but I will test it again come summer.
I really love this sleeping mask, it absorbed into my skin very easily without a heavy, sticky layer. The next morning I didn’t wake up with a shiny layer the next morning. There was one sleeping mask I used in the past that would leave a sticky layer on my skin and didn’t absorb, leaving me waking up in the morning stuck to my pillow case. Something tells me that isn’t the purpose of a sleeping mask,
There are a number of sleeping masks that I have in my stash, including the Honey version of this mask and am currently using the Kicho one.
Yes! Cosrx is very affordable and easily accessible. This mask comes in a couple of different sizes, I went with the smaller one so I could try it first given my previous experiences. So far this is the best sleeping mask I have ever used and depending out how I go with the honey version I will be buying this again.
This mask is available from Lilac and Berries for $25.
