Simplistic Wonder Essence

Hello and thank you for stopping by! I know it’s been awhile since I’ve done a product review, I appreciate you supporting and visiting my blog during my hiatus. For those who are new to my blog, welcome and I hope you may find some reads you may like.

I’ve had to take a break due to reoccurring health issues but I’m slowly trying to get back into the grove of my love for blogging. There are plenty of used products that are due to be reviewed and there are loads of new products that I recently purchased (check out my recent hauls) waiting for me to start testing.

Okay, enough about all that, let’s get into the review!Simplistic Wonder Essence

Review Time

After seeing one of my Australian go to K-Beauty stores, Lilac and Berries, showing this little amber bottle from Simplistic, I knew I had to have it.

When I purchased I expected it to be a glass bottle and the product made the amber colour show through. The bottle is a hard plastic that can be squeezed and the product inside is amber, so it was half what I imagined. Even though the name says it’s an Essence but it can also be used a toner.

Straight off the bat, the scent is non-existent. The texture is as expected, watery and not sticky, very easy to pat on to my skin and it doesn’t leave any of the amber colour on the skin. In case you may be worried about the amber colouring of the essence.

About Simplistic

Simplistic is a modern and luxurious indie Korean skincare brand. Thier approach is to create clean, simple and functional products with the primary focus on producing high-quality skincare with natural ingredients and no harmful chemicals.

When the brand was launched in 2015 it instantly became famous for creating gentle and safe products that even people with the most sensitive skin would be able to use.

It is also a vegan, cruelty free brand.

Key ingredients:

The base contains non filtrate water and is made from 100% Amaranth Seed Extract.

Amaranth Seed Extract – contains amino acid essentials, especially rich in anti-ageing elements to fight ageing skin.

How I use

I tried using this multiple types of ways.

  1. Toner – applying a few drops to a cotton pad and then swiping it around my face. I felt like I was wasting the product as it just absorbed into the pad. My skin felt like it wasn’t benefiting to the fullest benefits using it this way.
  2. Essence on its own, before applying my sheet mask and replacing my first treatment essence step. This method I like but don’t love. It just seems that it gets lost amongst all my layers of my skincare routine. I’m still in the testing period of this method, so I’ll give it a little longer.
  3. Co-star to a First Treatment Essence……this I LOVE! Using my FTE first and then pat the Wonder Essence into my skin. I don’t know what it is about this product or how to exactly describe the feeling. You’ll think I am crazy but it seems to “activate” once applied and my skin responds so well while it absorbs into my skin. The Essence feels like it’s finding and filling my pores. See I told you it sounds crazy.

Final Thoughts

Admittedly, this was an impulse purchase made solely by the beautiful packaging, plus I love supporting Michelle at Lilac and Berries. She spends a lot of time researching and finding K-Beauty brands to bring to Australia & New Zeland.

She uses the products herself before she carries them in her online shop. This is not sponsored or do I receive anything in return for this review. Michelle is just amazing and I love her, she’s so interactive with us on social media and so knowledgeable about skincare.

This is an awesome product that I would suggest giving it a whirl. The bottle seems small compared to other Essences, it’s 150ml bottle.

Definitely! It is on a pricey side but once you learn about the brand and ingredients, in my opinion, it is worth it. Michelle has now expanded the items from this line to include a cleanser and moisturiser. Which I will purchase once I’ve gone through a few more products first.

Hey! 🙂 I actually just thought I would check out your blog but then I got hooked and wanted to leave you a small reply.
I think it is a really nice idea to talk about the brand a bit too, because personally when I buy a product, I do an enormous amount of research on it as I cannot afford to buy that many and don’t want to waste my money on something I will regret buying. I love to get every tidbit of information I can get and with you writing down the most important things I get some insight on the producer. 🙂

What is also a big plus is you writing about your experience with trying out various kinds of application. I have this small pet peeve when I want to research how to apply a product in the best way and cannot find anything. Here comes the part where I play around and experience until i find the – for me at least – perfect way to do it and try to share this in my blog posts. I love the fact that you tell us your experience on this trial and error procedure and I will definitely keep this in mind should I ever be able to afford this product. Ah, now I really want it. 🙂

Your blog is easy to read and everyone can relate, so thank you for your hard work and keep going, even if it sometimes is stressful and tiring. We all appreciate it. <3

Eden, words can not describe how my heart is bursting with joy because of your comment! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I apologise for the delay in replying, I’ve been trying different tools to help me keep track of comments. I’m still trying it out but I think I might have figured out a way.

Thank you SO much for taking time out of your day to read my post and to leave me such a lovely comment. ?

Price of skincare is getting much more expensive, even some of the drug store brands and it gets hard to afford multiple products to review. I try to camp out until there are some decent sales. It’s hard being a skincare addict, especially on a budget! I’m just lucky I don’t wear makeup because I don’t think my bank account could take having 2 huge addictions!

I try to put in my posts as much as I think I’d like to know when researching items. When I test products I try to use it different methods, trying to find ways to get the most benefits out of the product. I like to trick myself into thinking I live a skincare thug life and don’t always follow the directions ?

Let me know if there is something in particular you’d like a review on. I have a ton of things that I need to review, so it’s possible I may have something similar.

Once again, I am so sorry for the later reply and thank you for taking the time ?!

I don’t know there’s just something very luxurious about skincare in glass bottles – I love it <3 But hey this products sounds great anyways, even though it's not in a glass bottle 😀 I love Korean skincare, but I've never come across this brand before. When a product is advised to be used on a cotton pad, I always tend to skip it. I don't know why, but most of the time I find it wasteful hahahah. The Korean "toners" are usually a bit thicker in consistency, which I like to pat on the skin instead. I really enjoyed reading this post <3

      Hi Noreen!

I’m sorry for the delay in replying, I’ve been in the process of changing a tool that would be the best way to keep track of my comments and I’ve just seen your comment.

      Again I sincerely apologise.

I completely agree about the glass jars! Something about it makes my routine a bit more fancy spa-like! Plus it adds some cute decor for the vanity.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time in checking out my post & for leaving such a kind comment! It means soooo very much to me.

There are a few more products from this line that I recently purchased, the cleanser and moisturiser. I also repurchased this essence as well.

You are spot on about the K-Beauty toners, when possible I try to give it a go using different ways. I’ve been using the Thank You Farmer toner, forget the name but it’s part of the blue and called Deep something, and I have to use a pad. It leaves a sticky residue and continues through the end of my routine.

I’d love to hear what you are using and if you have any recommendations.

Once again, thank you so much ??
